ScrollPoetry (“ScrollPoetry,” “the app,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an iOS app for reading, learning, and memorizing classic, public-domain poetry. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
ScrollPoetry is built and operated by ScrollPoetry, an independent one-person studio based in the United States.

Account information (optional). If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are stored only in hashed form — we never see or store your plain-text password.
Profile information (optional). If you set up a profile, you may provide a username, display name, and avatar image. You can also turn on a “private account” toggle. When your account is private, your reviews are never shown to other users.
Your library and activity. When you use ScrollPoetry, you can create library data such as:
For poems, we store only a poem identifier (ID) and your activity on it. We do not store copyrighted third-party poem text — all poems in the app are public-domain works.
Onboarding preferences (optional). During onboarding, you may optionally tell us an age band, gender, and your favorite poets or themes. This is used only to personalize your recommendations. It is stored locally on your device, is not required, and is never sold.
ScrollPoetry is intentionally light on automatic data collection. We do not include third-party advertising SDKs or ad-tracking tools.

We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to operate ScrollPoetry. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

The free, on-device narration voice runs locally on your device and does not send poem text to any third party.
ScrollPoetry's servers and data (via Supabase) are located in the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States — including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or elsewhere — you understand and agree that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
We keep your account and library data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data from our active systems (see “Deleting your account and data” below). Data created entirely offline without an account lives only on your device, and you can remove it by deleting the app.
You are always in control of your data.
We aim to complete deletion requests promptly, typically within 30 days.
ScrollPoetry is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@scrollpoetry.com and we will delete it.
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Data in transit is encrypted using industry-standard protocols (HTTPS/TLS), and account access is protected by authentication. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes by our authentication provider. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to address vulnerabilities responsibly.

Our legal bases for processing include performing our contract with you (providing the app), your consent (for optional features like onboarding personalization), and our legitimate interests (keeping the app secure and improving it). To exercise any of these rights, email hello@scrollpoetry.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of — but you are entitled to make the request, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your rights. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective date” above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use of ScrollPoetry after an update means you accept the revised policy.
